If you've never had a facial, you probably have some combination of curiosity and uncertainty about what actually happens. Here's a straightforward walkthrough of what to expect at your first appointment at Denver Skin Therapy.
Before You Arrive
Come with a clean face if possible, though we'll cleanse at the start of your appointment if needed. Avoid retinol or exfoliating acids for 24 48 hours before your visit. If you've had any recent procedures laser, injections, chemical peels elsewhere let us know when you book.
The Skin Assessment
Every appointment starts with a brief assessment. We look at your skin under magnification pore size, oil production, hydration levels, any active breakouts or areas of concern. We'll ask about your current routine and any products you're using. This takes about 5 minutes and shapes everything that follows.
The Treatment
The treatment itself varies based on your skin type and what we found in the assessment. Standard steps include: double cleanse, exfoliation, extractions (if needed and appropriate), treatment serums, and a finishing moisturizer with SPF.
We'll tell you what we're doing and why as we go. If something feels uncomfortable, say so we adjust.
After Your Appointment
We'll give you specific aftercare instructions before you leave. Generally: avoid heavy makeup for a few hours, don't use active ingredients (retinol, acids) for 24 hours, and apply SPF before going outside.
Some mild redness after extractions is normal and typically resolves within a few hours. Your skin may look slightly flushed immediately after this is normal and temporary.
The Denver Difference
We factor Denver's climate into every treatment. Altitude, low humidity, and high UV exposure create specific challenges that we address directly not as an afterthought, but as a core part of how we approach every appointment.
First-timers are always welcome.
Most of our clients were first-timers once. We keep it straightforward, explain everything, and focus entirely on your skin.
